Personal Feedback on RapidQS

I wanted to share an update on the business and the journey I’ve been on so far. As you may know, I have a background in the building and construction industry, and specialize in pricing and estimating. I had my own building business for 5 years running a team in Queenstown and 3 teams in Auckland, all in the renovation and maintenance sector.

Investing in Marketing and an Online Presence was a Valuable Problem-Solution

One valuable lesson I have learned is the importance of creating demand within a business. Many builders I have worked with are willing to lower their prices in order to win the next job. Having a pipeline of potential jobs and customers is so important in order not to be so reliant on one project.

Marketing may seem like a waste of money, but it is actually a good investment for a new business. Having a steady stream of new leads coming in allows a builder to have more options and not feel the need to lower their prices in order to win a job.

When I say marketing, I mean SEO, paying for Google keyword searches, investing in advertising platforms, and finding out where your potential customers are and getting on those platforms. Ultimately, it is important to stick to your prices and margins in order to maintain a successful business.

Message and or reach out to 5 digital marketing agencies in your area and book a consulting call with them and see what they can do for your business.

I’ve attached a photo of me and a digital nomad Mike who I have known for a good 5-6 years now, he has massively helped me look at how I do business. Expert in marketing and driving business.

If anyone is interested in taking your business to the next level, email me and I will do an introduction email to a true specialist who is an expert at driving more quality traffic for your building business.

Here’s a common industry problem and my take on a solution

Another industry problem that we can all relate to is the shortage of skilled labor. This can lead to delays in project timelines and increased costs.

One solution I think to this problem is to invest in training and development programs to increase the pool of skilled workers.

This could include providing apprenticeships or internships to young people interested in entering the industry, or offering continuing education and training opportunities to current workers. Another solution could be to use automation and technology to help fill the gap in labor, such as using prefabrication or modular construction methods.

While Covid has caused huge delays in immigration and material supplies, there isn’t much we can do about that at the moment.

Goals for Rapidqs 2023 and Beyond

As a business, this year we want to make sure that Rapidqs can continue to deliver a high-quality, premium product.

I want to be the household name as the best QS / Estimating partner for residential builders. We are currently working with a lot of quality building companies and getting great feedback.

We want to send our detailed reports back to you, the builder or customer, in a timely fashion, with detailed breakdowns and accurate data. Our goal is to complete 200 projects this year, and we have two LBP qualified estimators on board to help us achieve this.

Tip of the Week

I’ve touched on it above, MARKETING. Have an abundance of Job/Project opportunities, know your value, and don’t drop your prices.

Focus on:

  • 1 Cold call to a possible customer
  • Ask for one referral off an existing client
  • Shake one extra hand at the coffee shop
  • Spend $1 on marketing.

If you have plans sitting in your inbox that need pricing send them to rapidqsnz@gmail.com.
